In the winter, the garden and I rest. I spend more time on indoor activities, such as writing and crafts. I’ve learned the importance of flowing with the seasons.
Yet even in springtime, sometimes I need to stop and take stock. Today is one of those days. We returned to our home after two weeks visiting family in Illinois and New York, and our flight was delayed by several hours last night due to weather.
So today, rather than push myself, I’ll just say “hi” to all of you out there who have been kind enough to visit me. I’m going to get food in the house and settle in again. The irises and lilacs are blooming, so I hope to snap a few photos, too.
I may get a chance this afternoon to catch up on what some of you have to say, but if not, I’ll definitely have more time starting tomorrow.
Take care, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Enjoy your rest. You definitely deserve it after your long delay in flight. Did you at least spend the night in town or did you attempt to travel all of the way out to the peninsula? Welcome Home! I’m headed to your side of the bridge to a friend’s book group. We’ll discuss THE BOYS IN THE BOAT. Man, it was an incredible story. If you haven’t read it… DO!! The young man featured spent quite some time out in Sequim. Anyway, I have just made cookies for the group and have to leave in an hour, so I had… Read more »
We spent the night near the airport. I told my husband I couldn’t bear to sit for two more hours, and he didn’t argue with me! We got home about 10:00 a.m. this morning, and that included a stop at the Chimacum Corner Farmstand for some food. Nice to be back.
I’ll take a look at this book. Thanks for the recommendation!
Welcome home. I guess it was bittersweet, great to be home but missing family already.
Indeed, that’s a good word. We’re so scattered from each other. Fortunately, I have a sister who lives a short drive away, and that’s been nice for both of us.
Glad to hear you are taking a rest today!!!
Thanks! Although I can’t help peeking at some of the blogs…
Travelling is tiring enough without delays! Hope you enjoy your rest day.
I’m loving it! I wandered the garden and took photos, made a few lists, had “date lunch” with my husband. I’m getting my week organized but moving at a slow, easy pace.
It’s very wise to recognize when rest is necessary–and courageous to take it! I am trying to decompress myself–my last day at the paper was this past Friday. So I am trying to just be for a few days. Start the new job May 1.
It’s not easy to do, even when I’m exhausted. I’m glad you’re taking a little time to yourself…enjoy the new kitty! I can’t believe we’re so close to May 1 already.
Have a nice little rest!

Thanks! It was great…I’m feeling more like myself today.
Everyone needs a rest now and then, especially after traveling. Always seems no matter how much fun it is, you come home worn out and just wanting to relax in your own home.

Yes, it is good to just “be” sometimes.
