How Good It Is to Feel Good

For the past few days, I’ve been a bit under the weather.  There are times when my body just says, “Nope, we’re not cooperating today,” and I know it’s time to slow things down.  This is particularly frustrating when I have, as I do now, a lot of projects going.  I have about ten days to prepare two book manuscripts for a contest, I’m still stumbling through my French class, and next week I have my first novel critique in that class.  I’m also finishing the process of organizing family photos and am excited about the prospect of getting rid of one project, and therefore, a pile of “stuff.”  (As anyone who knows me well can attest, I do not like feeling cluttered, and boy, am I feeling cluttered right now!)

Truth is, I did not follow the advice that I give to others:  take care of yourself.  I knew I needed a massage, but didn’t call in time to get in when I needed to.  There were a few other health regimen items that also fell by the wayside, so it’s no wonder I haven’t felt well.

Today I had that overdue massage, and the difference is amazing.  This afternoon I have sailed through my work; my mind is clear, and I act without effort or strain.  Even after more than 20 years of regular massages, I am still amazed at their power to bring me back to such a productive but centered place.  I have gone from being overwhelmed to knowing the immediate path forward in all my work.
